DNC Reforests Suai LLG

Dikasuna Nature Conservation Inc. has led a reforestation project in Suai LLG, Simbu Province, as part of its Project Green Lungs initiative on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The second three-day community awareness drive brought together youths and leaders from Nimai and Dika communities, covering five villages: Genkua, Giubogbil, Emai, Simau Gon and Koge.

Dikasuna Conservation acknowledged and thanked the youths and community leaders of these villages for actively taking part in our awareness drive.

The event also included the Department of Forestry in Simbu, represented by Mr. Super Takai and his team, along with Netherlands representative Mr. Antoon Van Der Palen.

Community-based organisations also participated, including Mr. Isreal Kobale of Hiri Kungai CBO, forester Mr. Sem Sakido, and DNC awareness coordinator Mr. Denge Sinebare.

“We thank BCF, UNDP under the GEF6 programme, and the New Zealand Government for their funding support,” MR. SINEBARE said.

Organisers said the reforestation drive strengthens community awareness on climate change while restoring forest cover and biodiversity across Simbu Province.
