This initial partnership laid the foundation for Dikasuna Nature Conservation operations and projects in Simbu Province, Papua New Guinea.

Key Activities Supported:

  • Established the DNC Office and Tool Shed.

  • Renovated the DNC Conservation Park.

  • Expanded and improved the Community Nursery.

  • Kickstarted the Restoration and Protection of Native(Indigenous) Plant Species.

Specific Focus: Restoration of native plants, including the establishment of a dedicated conservation site named in honor of the initiative. Other sites named in honor of Daniel Lowe – Deputy head of mission, Irish Aid, Incountry Micro Grant Projects.

  • Financial assistance for the restoration and conservation of native plants and their habitats.

  • Focused activities include climate change mitigation and adaptation

Although modest, this contribution provided valuable support for ongoing biodiversity restoration programs and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Key Activities Supported:

  • Awareness programs on climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a focus on indigenous plant habitats.

  • Provision of BSF (Biodegradable Solutions for Forestry) materials for awareness campaigns.

  • Reforestation and restoration of 50 hectares of land under the expanded Project Green Lung initiative.

  • Further improvement of the Project Green Lung reforestation program.

Climate Micro-Grant of Australia

2025 – BCF (Biodiversity Climate Fund) under UNDP-GEF 6 Program

Funding: Contracted support disbursed in tranches (instalments).

  • 1st Tranche: (received, reported, and cleared).

  • 2nd Tranche: (received; report compiled and submitted, pending review).

  • 3rd–5th Tranches: Pending as of August 2025, subject to reporting and eligibility review by Lochan & Co.

Additional Contributions:

  • Capacity-Building Trainings: Financial management, reporting, and project implementation workshops held in Goroka.

  • Field Visits and Interviews: Strengthening monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects.

Current Activities under BCF:

  • Training and partnership development.

  • Community awareness campaigns and field visits.

  • Progressive reporting to access further tranches.

Biodiversity Climate Fund of Papua New Guinea

2025 – IUCN KIWA (International Union for Conservation of Nature – KIWA Oceania Program)

Funding:
Contribution Type: Contract

Key Activities Supported:

  • Assisted in tree planting initiatives to restore degraded areas and forest ecosystems as part of climate change adaptation.

  • Supported restoration, conservation, and protection of native plant habitats for resilience against climate impacts.

Objectives:

  1. Implement community awareness programs on climate change resilience and adaptation.

  2. Reforest 200 hectares of degraded land with indigenous plants.

  3. Preserve and conserve approximately 500 hectares of native plant habitats.

This partnership has strengthened DNC’s landscape-scale conservation efforts, ensuring both ecological restoration and community-driven adaptation strategies.

With continued support from its partners and donors, the organization remains committed to planting 1000, 0000 trees by 2030 to help revitalize our forests and degraded areas, restore, protect and conserve local native flora and fauna and provide housing and clean water among other facilities for the local communities.
