Dikasuna Nature Conservation Inc. (DNC) has launched a Nursery Training Programme to strengthen community-led reforestation and native plant preservation efforts in Simbu Province.

The training began on Monday under the guidance of Mr. Steven Gene from the PNG National Forest Authority. It is proudly supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Biodiversity and Climate Fund (BCF).

This important initiative is dedicated to strengthening community-led conservation and climate resilience. The Organization is excited and empowered to enhance our native plant preservation and reforestation efforts.”

The training provides participants with practical knowledge in nursery management, seed selection, and tree propagation, which are essential for restoring degraded lands and protecting forest ecosystems.

The partnership between DNC, the UNDP–BCF, and the National Forest Authority underscores the growing commitment to biodiversity protection in Papua New Guinea.

“With this training, we are taking another big step toward restoring ecological balance and protecting PNG’s rich biodiversity,” Founder, Mr Kaupa says, “We thank everyone who continues to support our mission to protect and restore PNG’s forests.”

Papua New Guinea remains one of the world’s most biodiverse nations, and initiatives like DNC’s nursery training play a vital role in ensuring its forests continue to thrive for generations to come.
