DNC Celebrates First Honey Harvest

Dikasuna Nature Conservation Inc. has announced its first harvest of honey under the Dikasuna Honey Project, marking a milestone in its efforts to link conservation with sustainable livelihoods.

The harvest follows the donation of 30 honey boxes and beekeeping tools earlier this year by Kuria Lawyers Principal Andrew Kuria, which gave the project its start.

“Dikasuna is excited to venture into this to ensure sustainability in conservation. We look forward to more harvests,” says DNC Gardener, Kobla Sawan

Beekeeping is both environmentally friendly and economically viable, offering communities a renewable source of income while encouraging the protection of forests and ecosystems.

Honey production in Papua New Guinea has been growing as a small-scale industry, providing alternative livelihoods in rural areas and supporting food security.

Proceeds from honey sales will help fund its reforestation, conservation, and climate resilience projects in Simbu Province
